Acne Scar Treatment

Lot of people suffer from acne and then after acne develops scars so you have to treat your acne before you can actually treat the acne scars. There are two main types of scars ,you have the pigment changes after the inflammation and then you have true scars which are structural defects or changes. It's really critical to know what kind of acne scars you have because you can say acne scars and that's such a broad category.  When you know what kind of acne scars you have then you can target your treatment to what's causing them and so with the pigment changes you have post-inflammatory erythema and that's red spots on the skin then you have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is dark spots on the skin and then when we look at the ones that are actually true scars you can either have atrophic acne scars which are punched out areas of skin or you can have hypertrophic acne scars which are actually elevated parts of the skin. So once you put your scars into a category then you can tailor your skincare routine to target those scars.

Post-inflammatory erythema is probably the most common and it's also the one that's going to occur most immediately following acne after you've treated it so these are the little red spots that are on the skin after the acne bump is there so the good news about post-inflammatory erythema is it does resolve on its own with no treatment as long as you're treating the underlying acne.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or the dark spots you get after acne and people with darker skin tones are more likely to get this. This lasts a little bit longer than the red spots probably three to six months to a year for the dark spots to go away on their own. They do often just get better with time to time. But this is something to be concerned because it lasts a little bit longer you may want to hasten the resolution so there's a couple thought processes ,either you could try to speed up the cell turnover or you could try to exfoliate the skin that's actually going to help quite a bit as well and the third thing is you can actually go after the way that pigment is produced. For treating this , the most critical thing for this hyperpigmentation is going to be the use of sunscreen, tinted sunscreens specifically with iron oxides are going to give you the best benefit to protect against hyperpigmentation. There are really so many ingredients that can work for this anything that treats hyperpigmentation or just pigmentation and it probably is going to have some value these include retinoids, tranexamic acid and niacinamide maybe even something like thiamidol which is a more novel ingredient, vitamin c , azelaic acid , hydroquinone there's just so many ingredients.

So if you are somebody who has acne and is prone to hyperpigmentation there are two ingredients because they both treat the acne and the hyperpigmentation and so that's going to be  retinoids again and azelaic acid and so if you're still having acne and you're trying to treat your dark spots these are the two ingredients.

Hypopigmentation so these are just like light spots that occur after the acne bumps and what's happening here is the inflammation like consumes and damages the pigment making cells the melanocytes and they just get destroyed or they just become not functional and so these spots can be permanent they can fade over a long period of time like a year but they can be permanent and actually not a lot of treatments are going to help bring them back. and there's one thing that you can kind of help to see if it's going to come back or not. If you have hair in this area so this is going to be maybe somebody who has you know maybe facial hair or something like this and you can see  if your hair has pigment in that area within the scar area or there's hair follicles nearby that have pigment then there's a better chance that you'll repigment this area because melanocytes from the hair follicle can travel and try to repair that area but once hypopigmentation forms it can be one of the most difficult things to treat you may actually need something called the melanocyte transfer, which is a very very nuanced procedure that's done by plastic surgeons .

True acne scars are all atrophic or sunken in scars and then we have the hypertrophic scars but they're treated completely differently. In this case, the inflammation is pretty deep so because this inflammation scarring can start at the deeper layers of the skin this forms a scar through and through the skin and it's just much more than just a surface problem. So some of these topical products like retinoids they just don't get deep enough into the skin a lot of times to get after these deep acne scars which is why these atrophic acne scars are so difficult to treat and which is why unfortunately seeing a dermatologist is going to give you the best results for these acne scars.

The treatment options includes micro needling. what is microneedling? so micro needling is basically you poke little holes into the skin with sterile device clean head and poking little holes in the skin end up stimulating collagen production that can release those deep acne scars and kind of poof them up a little bit so that they can become level with the rest of the skin. They sort of work is that they have anti-aging benefits they help with pigmentation they're safe for most skin tones which a lot of things are not necessarily scary for all skin tones.  Microneedling can be done only in clinics by dermatologists.

Next treatment option this is just your chemical peels there's such a variable degree of these that can be effective and they all work in different ways so chemical peels are actually a pretty complicated topic and people have dedicated their whole careers to basically being the chemical peel person.  you can have a medium depth chemical peel or you can have a deep depth of chemical peel and that's going to have different effects.

What is Exfoliation: What Exfoliation does to your skin?

Overview

Exfoliants disrupt the skin barrier but they have some benefits by disrupting that skin barrier so that you can see the best results from that exfoliant without disrupting your skin barrier or causing too much irritation. Exfoliating the skin is going to improve your skin texture so texture meaning little bumps that are on the skin sometimes you just kind of notice when the light hits you that your skin doesn't have an even texture or even just that dullness that's on the skin that's all due to skin texture.

People are either exfoliating too often or they're not using the right exfoliants and that can actually very much disrupt the skin barrier so our skin barrier is like a blessing it's like it protects us from allergens it protects us from irritation it keeps bacteria from getting into our skin it keeps water from getting out of our skin and so you should be doing everything in your power to protect your skin barrier.

Skin texture also contributes to your pores so one reason is just to improve your skin texture another reason is to improve the pigmentation , even out the tone this can help with things like melasma or any other cause of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. So those dark spots on your skin that you get maybe after acne it can help with this as well also if you use the right exfoliant it can help with acne so it's great at getting rid of acne because acne is often caused by little skin cells that are plugging your pores and so if you exfoliate it gets rid of those little skin cells and another thing and we went back and forth on this. But is actually maybe collagen growth with long-term use can actually help with fine wrinkles collagen. It has anti-aging benefits by getting rid of those fine lines and wrinkles. So exfoliation improves texture improves skin tone and hyperpigmentation may help with acne if you use the right one and also has anti-aging benefits.

How does it work?

There's two main groups of exfoliants ,there's chemical exfoliants and then there's physical exfoliants. Physical exfoliants are scrubs  that has really sharp particles that just tear your face up and these are the type of scrubs that won't work so physical exfoliants are just way too harsh for the face.  When you over stimulate, it over aggravate it you can cause a lot more inflammation and irritation. But  the body can just tolerate better and it's also just more practical to be using a physical exfoliant on the body when you're taking a shower.

Chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid which has been the best studied acid overall breaks up those little bonds that's in between those cells that keep your skin cells sticking together and by doing that ,the top layer of the skin it helps to turn those skin cells over bringing in new healthy cells from the bottom and they also send little signals down into the deeper layers of the skin that have effect on the dermis by increasing hyaluronic acid production and also increasing collagen production. They have a lot of different benefits and there are three main chemical exfoliants alpha hydroxy acids ,beta hydroxy acids and the polyhydroxy acids. They all kind of have different roles they have all different chemical structures but if you choose the right exfoliant for your skin issues that's where you're going to see the biggest benefit with chemical exfoliants.

How to choose right exfoliant for your skin?

Choose a exfoliant that is right for your skin type. So if you have normal or combination skin, glycolic acid is pretty much the basic one to start with. Glycolic acid is that super well-rounded acid it's going to be great for so many of the different problems it has so many functions and it's been studied probably the most extensively studies on it but it's the smallest particle alpha hydroxy acid which means it's going to penetrate deepest in the skin and cause the most irritation and inflammation of the group but if you have normal or combination skin you're going to tolerate this pretty well and you're going to see all those benefits.

If you have dry skin, you can go for lactic acid because lactic acid also is a wonderful moisturizer so it moisturizes and exfoliates at the same time. And for sensitive skin and you can go for mandelic acid so mandelic acid is one of the largest molecule alpha hydroxy acids so it doesn't penetrate as deeply into the skin so that's why it's going to be great for sensitive skin. Polyhydroxy acids are  sort of  alpha hydroxy acids that doesn't penetrate as deep it's great for sensitive skin it's even great for rosacea prone skin for people that get really irritated by things so poly hydroxy acids are great. So if you have oily or acne prone skin the best ingredient for this is going to be salicylic acid so salicylic acid gets deep into those pores it helps in removing the oil from the skin and also helps in acne including inflammation and bacteria and also unclogs the pores so definitely the top ingredient for acne here and and one of the best ingredients you can use in your skincare routine is salycylic acid. It's going to exfoliate the skin it's also going to improve hyperpigmentation in dark spots so it's just really overall a great acid.

When and How to Use?

When do you need to start one and this is going back to why are you using it in the first place so depending on what's going on in your life and on your skint that's going to be when you start it so you know we've kind of mapped out why these acids work the way that they do so if you're starting to develop fine lines and wrinkles you may want to introduce your acid to improve that collagen production , if you have acne or hyperpigmentation you may want to introduce salicylic acid.

How often are you supposed to exfoliate right because a lot of the packaging will tell you exfoliate twice a day especially on the bottles but the truth is you probably don't need to exfoliate twice a day because our skin cells take about 28 days to go from the bottom layer of the skin to the top layer of the skin and so you don't really need to constantly break those bonds down because it takes long for those skin cells to get up to the top layers. So truthfully you usually start at about once a week with your exfoliant and that may be all that you need now if you have more resilient skin and you have some goals that you're trying to target then twice a week.

 Bio Oil Review

Product Link: https://amzn.to/3rOlrqR

Overview

Three of the most common skin concerns that people have especially this time of year are scars, stretch marks and sunburns. First when it comes to scars ,people are always asking  what can I do to minimize the appearance of a scar now on average it's estimated that every person has about three scars on their body and scars can form from a number of different reasons so you can get a scar from an everyday cutter scrape you can get a scar from burning yourself with a curling iron or with an oven or from chickenpox or acne or surgery so you know scars can look so different but what they have in common is that they usually start off very inflamed and dark in color and then over time they become less and less noticeable.

Now there's so many products out there that claim to be able to erase scars or to minimize the appearance of scars but unfortunately there's so little data and science behind most of those products. When it comes to scars first you want to protect scars from the Sun UV light can actually slow the process of wound healing and make scars darker something called hyperpigmentation ,so you always want to protect a scar from the Sun you also want to keep that scar very moisturized very hydrated by rubbing in a product ideally that contains an ingredient called vitamin E .

Why and how to use bio oil?

Vitamin E is proven to be very helpful with wound healing so bio oil has vitamin E in it and it's also got a tremendous amount of science proving that it really does in fact minimize the appearance of scars so if you're using your bio oil you're using your Sun protective measures and you're still concerned about your scars then definitely visit your dermatologist you may be a candidate for things like injections lasers chemical peels etc. So let's talk about stretch marks so stretch marks are actually a form of scar and they form exactly from the reason you'd expect given the name when you stretch the skin the skin can actually tear and that's a stretch mark so think about people during puberty a pregnant woman who's growing a betta baby in her belly her skin is trying to expand to compensate for that growth but sometimes it just can't keep up and so you get these microscopic tears in the dermis with your collagen and elastic fibers actually rupturing and that leads to a stretch mark so of course you can do some lifestyle changes like diet and exercise to help to sort of prevent the risk of the stretch marks from forming in the first place. But something else that's really important to do is keep that area very well hydrated very moisturized because then you can increase the skin's elasticity and hopefully prevent that stretch mark from forming you also want to look for products in either you know areas that are prone to stretch marks or after you've developed a stretch mark products that contain vitamin A because vitamin A actually triggers collagen formation and collagen is what you need the most in a stretch mark stretch marks just don't have enough collagen and that's why they become so apparent to the eye so last but certainly not least I wanted to tackle sunburns a lot of people don't realize that even one sunburn can actually do some very severe long-term damage to the skin and predisposed to both aging as well as skin cancer so when it comes to a sunburn there are a lot of myths out there never use ice or soap on a burn they can actually make things worse what you do want to do after you get a sunburn is you want to take a leave or something that's going to actually not only help with the pain but reduce the inflammation in the skin you want to use cold milk compresses so you use a washcloth on the burned areas that's soaked in milk pat dry and then you want to apply a product that ideally contains antioxidants so things like vitamin C vitamin E those can be very calming and soothing and help the skin to repair itself so bio oil has those ingredients in it it's got vitamin E in it it's got chamomile which is also very very soothing for a sunburn.

It helps improve the appearance of both new and old scars so for example acne scars but also straight-up normal .It helps in reducing the possibility of stretch marks formed during pregnancy. It also improve the appearance of an even skin tone in both light and dark skin types and helps retain moisture.

We burn easily and we pigment easily ,one mosquito can take down a skin we can literally have one bite ten years ago and our skin will remember because it will be producing more pigmentation in that one location, so for us we have to be so careful and intelligent with our skin we need to know exactly what we're putting on our skin. Bio oil basically cures everything this is what their marketing says it improves scars ,stretch marks ,uneven skin tone , aging skin that's basically everything so is this correct or is this all marketing bump?

Ingredients

The first ingredient which is paraffin so this is a complex mixture of saturated hydrocarbons it is non irritating it's a great emoliant and is actually an occlusive so it prevents any trans epidermal water loss and that is really fundamental. As we age we lose moisture in our skin and what we really want to do is to occlude it ,to prevent any water from evaporating from our skin.

The next ingredient is isopropyl myristate which is 5 out of 10 on the comedogenic scale so probably who's got acne on their body , back in shoulders chest usually avoid this product. And the next ingredient is retinyl palmitate. Retinyl palmitate is the weakest of all the vitamin A.

It also has tocopheryl acetate that's an antioxidant. Free radicals are the enemy when it comes to our skin they are criminals and they need to be handcuffed because what they do is they damage our collagen and they lead to premature aging which is something that none of us want. Antioxidants are our best friends and they should definitely be in a skincare there's really great they're added for antioxidant.

It has a personal Liquid Amino this is basically gonna create a film layer on your skin. It is kind of hydrating to the skin and then there's also isopropyl myristate now basically this is great for maintaining the health to your skin barrier therefore it's also gonna minimize the water loss therefore loss of hydration in your skin definitely really good. There's also retinol palmitate is basically retinol however this is a weaker form like I thought the purest ever because it's not retinoic acid so therefore it's gonna have to be converted in your skin into retinoic acid so it's weaker however truly retinol is amazing it's the king of anti-aging. It increases cell turnover rate it is great for reducing violent wrinkles and is also great for fighting dark spots and pigmentation.

There's also a bunch of seed extract ,flower extract. It has sunflower seed oil ,this is rich in vitamin E and so it's an antioxidant therefore it's gonna be amazing at fighting inflammation but also great at reducing acne and just a raw redness in the skin. And then there's also lavender oil so this is basically amazing for once again healing the skin from the breakouts and also killing bacteria.

Caution

Maybe sensitive skin types can definitely be irritated from so many plant extracts. Bio oil's ingredient list is truly amazing  this contains a lot of plant extracts a lot of leaf extracts so if you are have sensitive skin and you know if your skin is sensitive specifically to this then definitely don't go for this oil. Implement this in your skincare gene at all because actually this is not as a serum because this is an oil so do it as the last step of your skincare routine.  This is gonna boost your retinol because of the things that this's able to do for your skin however keep in mind it does not compare to what a retinol can do so truly. Its amazing for fighting acne actually if you didn't know retinol and prescription retinoid were first invented and first prescribed to teenagers with severe acne then later on it was discovered they were also very good at fighting fine lines and wrinkles so retinol is in general are amazing also for acne prone or oily skin people. However this one is a little bit too weak for you to give you that results in terms of reducing acne. If you are looking for a little bit of anti-aging then I would say this would be an amazing starting point or you know alternative to using a retinol if you maybe are scared of using your retinol yet and you want to just try dipping in your toes first in the cold water, you can go for this bio oil.

5 Best facewash/cleansers for men and women:

Cleansing is THE first and most important step of your skincare. Cleansing helps in removing all the dirt from the face and clean your pores. you can either use a cleanser or a facewash. So a facewash is a foaming cleanser which forms foam while cleansing ,a cleanser is gentle and does not form foam. Cleanser is really gentle which is non-stripping which won't destroy the moisture body of your skin and which won't cause sensitivity If you have a oily skin, go with a foaming face wash or a gentle cleanser will also work good. 3. Cera Ve Hydrating facial cleanser

It is very similiar to the cetaphil gentle cleanser but it is very thick and creamy and it's perfect if you have dry skin. It's very hydrating and that's because the main ingredient in this is glycerine. Glycerine is a moisturizing ingredient so it's really going to help your skin stay hydrated . It is also fragrance free, alcohol-free and essential oil free which is really great because those are all things that are known to be irritants to the skin but if you do look at the list of ingredients and there is a long list of ingredients you may notice that there are a couple alcohols in here primarily sterile alcohol so you may be like what you just said it was alcohol free ,so this alcohol is actually an alcohol in structure but it doesn't really have the characteristics of like an alcohol of what you would think of an other skincare products like an alcohol being dry and stripping the skin instead it's a fatty alcohol which is used to help improve the lipid barrier in your skin so this is actually good it's not like one of those drying. This also has tocopherol in it which is vitamin E and that's an antioxidant so that's always great for your skin and this also has ceramides in it. Ceramides are really good for moisturizing the skin because ceramides are lipids that are naturally found in the outer layer of your skin so this is full of hydrating and moisturizing ingredients so it is perfect if you have dry sensitive skin and it really does a good job of improving just like your skin barrier.

Overview

A rose hip seed oil is not rose oil. Rose oil is extracted from the petals and a rose hip seed oil is extracted from the seeds and fruits of a rose plant.

There are a few essential oils that are absolutely a dough but when it comes to a rose hip seed oil it should be organic and cold pressed. It hydrates it moisturizes it just helps brighten the skin it helps boost collagen formation  it reduces inflammation it also helps reduce hyperpigmentation .It's a dry oil it's compatible for all skin types it's extremely nourishing very very hydrating so if you have dry skin it's beautiful it's even excellent for people who have got eczema so for dry skin. This oil is also going to do you really a lot of good it's great for normal and combination skin obviously but it's fabulous for even oily skin because it's a dry oil so what that means is it's super light uh it's not greasy and the skin easily absorbs.

Benefits

It's got vitamin A in it. Vitamin A is fantastic for even aging skin so it's a beautiful anti-aging oil so basically it's extremely nourishing for the skin it protects the skin barrier and it also adds an element of antioxidant factor which our skin needs because we tend to lose that as we age the linoleic acid level helps the skin barrier which is essential for ceramide so it really nourishes the skin.

It's rich in vitamin c it boosts collagen i mean what more do you need from a facial oil this is definitely an oil that can improve skin texture but just make sure that you patch test with all facial oils especially cold pressed organic ones you need to patch test and see whether it suits your skin because an allergic reaction can happen with any facial oil so please make sure you patch just right over here leave it on for around 24 hours and see whether it reacts to your skin.

It contains substantial amounts of unsaturated fatty acids which can actually be very nourishing to the skin barrier things like linoleic acid is the most abundant fatty acid in rose hip oil followed by alpha linolenic acid and there's also some oleic acid as well there's an appreciable number of lipid loving oil loving antioxidants that can theoretically get into your skin.

How to apply?

Apply rosehip seed oil as last skincare step in your skincare routine and nicely massage it  for around 15 minutes 10 to 15 minutes is more than enough because you need that play time you know your skin needs that play time whenever an oil is applied. Make sure that you apply your SPF the next day whether your skin is sensitive or not.  Rosehip oil also helps in  slowly fading away the marks. you can mix with your moisturizer if you do not want to apply a rose of seed oil altogether. It's got a very unique different smell. It's also fantastic for the scalp , take a few drops of it mix it up in your serum and apply that on scalp for frizz control.

Pointers to remember when buying a rosehip serum

When a rosehip seed oil is produced ,there's an involvement of different compounds so you have to make sure that you're buying it from a very good reputed brand ,a brand that actually assures you that from the soil to the bottle is of highest quality. When you buy a rose hip oil, it should come in this dark amber glass bottle because what happens is uv rays won't penetrate and react with this oil now this oil has a tendency of being slightly unstable so with the reaction it has a tendency of oxidizing so packaging like this in a dark bottle or keeping it in a cool place is extremely vital for its potency. So you can even store this in the refrigerator it needs a dark cool place.

My Recommendations: The Ordinary, Be minimalist, juicy chemistry.

Skincare is not Makeup

It's really difficult to find your way around to cosmetics. The cosmetic industry is really complicated and there are a lot of products in our face 24/7 telling us what we should buy what we should use how we should do it and it's really difficult to navigate there's makeup and skincare a lot of times those are tied together but I'm going to tell you why they're a bit separate and how easy they are to figure out.

Makeup is different than skincare because with makeup products you're able to instantly see a difference when you test a foundation and eyeshadow you're able to see the pigment.  What isn't skincare however is a little bit different and here's why. With skincare you can't or very rarely can tell a difference the very first time use it when you use a serum the first time you use it your skin may feel a little bit moisturize but you're really not going to notice the difference you notice a difference with skincare over time it takes a while to figure out if the product is good or not.

Doing skincare for one day will not make you glow. you need to be consistent. Consistency is the key.

Here is the Routine

Basically there is 3 step skincare routine and 10 step korean skincare routine. Depending on your needs you can follow either one.

3 Step Skincare Routine

1. Cleanser
2. Moisturizer
3. Sunscreen

Cleanser

Cleansing is probably THE most important skincare step in our routine, because all that nasty, all that grime, all that oil... and it sets the base for all the products that come on to really be able to sink through our skin. Always use a gentle cleanser. But since there are so many different types of gentle cleansers today, we can't help but wonder, "What gentle cleanser best fits my skin type?" Skincare varies from person to person,  and skin type to skin type.

What defines a gentle cleanser? They're referred to cleansers that are made without irritating ingredients that don't leave the skin feeling stripped, tight or dried out. And once again, this will differ for different people depending on your skin type, and specific ingredients that may irritate you but maybe not other people. Then texture-wise, gentle cleansers can generally be the ones that come in a gel, milky and cream consistency, that's lightweight and easily spreadable. And they're formulated in a way that contains little to no fragrance, is non-comedogenic and is also hypoallergenic.

My Recommendation for gentle cleanser: Cetaphil, Cera Ve and Simple.

Moisturizer

A moisturizer helps in anti-aging, keeping oily skin not so oily, keeping dry skin hydrated, but also you're actually protecting the skin from harmful environmental factors. There are so many moisturizers out there, you need to find which texture suits your skin type, at the same time when to know to switch up your moisturizers. So what are moisturizers, moisturizers are creams or lotions that are designed to help hydrate and retain moisture in the skin, they typically contain beneficial ingredients to help the skin, such as essential oils herbal extracts and chemicals to handle oil control, and also reduce irritation.

There are actually three different types of moisturizers, occlusives, emollients and humectants, so occlusives basically help to trap the moisture that's already in your skin from kind of evaporating out, and then we have emollients to refer to products that soften to protect to moisturize and also lubricate the skin, so this is like a conditioner for your hair, but for your skin, and then we have humectants which are moisturizers that help encourage young cells to emerge to the surface of the skin, and reduce any flakiness and dry skin, moisturizers with the added emollients and humectants actually help keep the skin moisturised but also keeps it soft and supple and glowing. so normally our body already naturally performs all these functions, but moisturizers are adding an external factor to help our skin stay soft and supple like a baby.

My Recommendations: Minimalist, Cera Ve, Cetaphil

Sunscreen

UVB is the Ray that typically causes sunburns sunspots freckling hyperpigmentation .UVA rays are able to reach deeper into a skin because of its longer wavelength so that's why it's able to actually reach the DNA and the nucleus of our skin cells and actually damage the DNA so that's what really causes further aging premature wrinkling formation and this is also what can ultimately cause skin cancer. Basically all the little truths of sunscreen it stands for sun protection factor so SPF determines the protection of UVB rays and how much it can protect you before it starts burning.

These days, skincare and cosmetics companies are packing SPF into a variety of their products. We're talking lotions, sticks, powders, sprays. It's extensive. So basically there are two types of sunscreen physical and chemical suncreen. Its not like you can skip suncreen when you are home. you should always wear a suncreen.

My Recommendations: Avene, Minimalist , Re equil.

Vitamin C

If you want to brighten your skin and get that glow, Use a vitamin c serum twice a day.
Vitamin C is one of those cult favorite ingredients, but has made a name for itself in the skincare world to be a little hard to work with because of its, unstable nature. Maybe like that unstable, sensitive friend that you might have. But when you probably figure out how to, use or incorporate it into your skincare routine. It can completely, brighten, lighten and protect your entire face and skin from premature signs of aging. Vitamin C also helps our body produce protein, and it's recommended to help fight colds when we feel a little under the weather. What is vitamin C even good for? Vitamin C is well known for its ability to brighten the skin tone, even out skin texture and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It's also known as the MVP of protecting the skin against free radicals and UV ray damage, from the sun because of its high levels of antioxidants. Vitamin C, used to formulate the serums is able to be completely absorbed into the skin and, whether or not it actually shows promising results because of its unstable nature. So Incorporate a good vitamin C serum in your routine and get that glow.

My recommendation: The Ordinary
