Overview

Three of the most common skin concerns that people have especially this time of year are scars, stretch marks and sunburns. First when it comes to scars ,people are always asking  what can I do to minimize the appearance of a scar now on average it's estimated that every person has about three scars on their body and scars can form from a number of different reasons so you can get a scar from an everyday cutter scrape you can get a scar from burning yourself with a curling iron or with an oven or from chickenpox or acne or surgery so you know scars can look so different but what they have in common is that they usually start off very inflamed and dark in color and then over time they become less and less noticeable.

Now there's so many products out there that claim to be able to erase scars or to minimize the appearance of scars but unfortunately there's so little data and science behind most of those products. When it comes to scars first you want to protect scars from the Sun UV light can actually slow the process of wound healing and make scars darker something called hyperpigmentation ,so you always want to protect a scar from the Sun you also want to keep that scar very moisturized very hydrated by rubbing in a product ideally that contains an ingredient called vitamin E .

Why and how to use bio oil?

Vitamin E is proven to be very helpful with wound healing so bio oil has vitamin E in it and it's also got a tremendous amount of science proving that it really does in fact minimize the appearance of scars so if you're using your bio oil you're using your Sun protective measures and you're still concerned about your scars then definitely visit your dermatologist you may be a candidate for things like injections lasers chemical peels etc. So let's talk about stretch marks so stretch marks are actually a form of scar and they form exactly from the reason you'd expect given the name when you stretch the skin the skin can actually tear and that's a stretch mark so think about people during puberty a pregnant woman who's growing a betta baby in her belly her skin is trying to expand to compensate for that growth but sometimes it just can't keep up and so you get these microscopic tears in the dermis with your collagen and elastic fibers actually rupturing and that leads to a stretch mark so of course you can do some lifestyle changes like diet and exercise to help to sort of prevent the risk of the stretch marks from forming in the first place. But something else that's really important to do is keep that area very well hydrated very moisturized because then you can increase the skin's elasticity and hopefully prevent that stretch mark from forming you also want to look for products in either you know areas that are prone to stretch marks or after you've developed a stretch mark products that contain vitamin A because vitamin A actually triggers collagen formation and collagen is what you need the most in a stretch mark stretch marks just don't have enough collagen and that's why they become so apparent to the eye so last but certainly not least I wanted to tackle sunburns a lot of people don't realize that even one sunburn can actually do some very severe long-term damage to the skin and predisposed to both aging as well as skin cancer so when it comes to a sunburn there are a lot of myths out there never use ice or soap on a burn they can actually make things worse what you do want to do after you get a sunburn is you want to take a leave or something that's going to actually not only help with the pain but reduce the inflammation in the skin you want to use cold milk compresses so you use a washcloth on the burned areas that's soaked in milk pat dry and then you want to apply a product that ideally contains antioxidants so things like vitamin C vitamin E those can be very calming and soothing and help the skin to repair itself so bio oil has those ingredients in it it's got vitamin E in it it's got chamomile which is also very very soothing for a sunburn.

It helps improve the appearance of both new and old scars so for example acne scars but also straight-up normal .It helps in reducing the possibility of stretch marks formed during pregnancy. It also improve the appearance of an even skin tone in both light and dark skin types and helps retain moisture.

We burn easily and we pigment easily ,one mosquito can take down a skin we can literally have one bite ten years ago and our skin will remember because it will be producing more pigmentation in that one location, so for us we have to be so careful and intelligent with our skin we need to know exactly what we're putting on our skin. Bio oil basically cures everything this is what their marketing says it improves scars ,stretch marks ,uneven skin tone , aging skin that's basically everything so is this correct or is this all marketing bump?

Ingredients

The first ingredient which is paraffin so this is a complex mixture of saturated hydrocarbons it is non irritating it's a great emoliant and is actually an occlusive so it prevents any trans epidermal water loss and that is really fundamental. As we age we lose moisture in our skin and what we really want to do is to occlude it ,to prevent any water from evaporating from our skin.

The next ingredient is isopropyl myristate which is 5 out of 10 on the comedogenic scale so probably who's got acne on their body , back in shoulders chest usually avoid this product. And the next ingredient is retinyl palmitate. Retinyl palmitate is the weakest of all the vitamin A.

It also has tocopheryl acetate that's an antioxidant. Free radicals are the enemy when it comes to our skin they are criminals and they need to be handcuffed because what they do is they damage our collagen and they lead to premature aging which is something that none of us want. Antioxidants are our best friends and they should definitely be in a skincare there's really great they're added for antioxidant.

It has a personal Liquid Amino this is basically gonna create a film layer on your skin. It is kind of hydrating to the skin and then there's also isopropyl myristate now basically this is great for maintaining the health to your skin barrier therefore it's also gonna minimize the water loss therefore loss of hydration in your skin definitely really good. There's also retinol palmitate is basically retinol however this is a weaker form like I thought the purest ever because it's not retinoic acid so therefore it's gonna have to be converted in your skin into retinoic acid so it's weaker however truly retinol is amazing it's the king of anti-aging. It increases cell turnover rate it is great for reducing violent wrinkles and is also great for fighting dark spots and pigmentation.

There's also a bunch of seed extract ,flower extract. It has sunflower seed oil ,this is rich in vitamin E and so it's an antioxidant therefore it's gonna be amazing at fighting inflammation but also great at reducing acne and just a raw redness in the skin. And then there's also lavender oil so this is basically amazing for once again healing the skin from the breakouts and also killing bacteria.

Caution

Maybe sensitive skin types can definitely be irritated from so many plant extracts. Bio oil's ingredient list is truly amazing  this contains a lot of plant extracts a lot of leaf extracts so if you are have sensitive skin and you know if your skin is sensitive specifically to this then definitely don't go for this oil. Implement this in your skincare gene at all because actually this is not as a serum because this is an oil so do it as the last step of your skincare routine.  This is gonna boost your retinol because of the things that this's able to do for your skin however keep in mind it does not compare to what a retinol can do so truly. Its amazing for fighting acne actually if you didn't know retinol and prescription retinoid were first invented and first prescribed to teenagers with severe acne then later on it was discovered they were also very good at fighting fine lines and wrinkles so retinol is in general are amazing also for acne prone or oily skin people. However this one is a little bit too weak for you to give you that results in terms of reducing acne. If you are looking for a little bit of anti-aging then I would say this would be an amazing starting point or you know alternative to using a retinol if you maybe are scared of using your retinol yet and you want to just try dipping in your toes first in the cold water, you can go for this bio oil.
